Is someone at Mars Wrigley was my long-lost twin? I mean, how else could they come up with a flavor combination so appealing to me?! Who wouldn’t want to recall the sugar, streamers, and games of a childhood birthday party by just biting into a candy bar? I had high hopes for this treat.
The package says 3 Musketeers Birthday Cake is “vanilla-flavored nougat and colorful sprinkles covered in rich milk chocolate”. Upon opening the package, the only scent I’m greeted with is chocolate. That’s a good start. When I bite in, it tastes very similar to a normal 3 Musketeers bar, just a tad sweeter and then there’s a strong vanilla aftertaste. The nougat is white with very faint sprinkles. The sprinkles are only color, not texture, so there is no sprinkle bite, like there would be if they were real sprinkles.
This bar could have been greatly improved with a more visual sprinkle in the nougat or a stronger cake flavor with less vanilla aftertaste. Would you enjoy this more than a normal 3 Musketeers bar? I didn’t. Would this be a fun thing to give an office mate on their birthday? Yes! Should my long-lost twin keep working on new special edition flavors of 3 Musketeers? Definitely.
