Coca-Cola has finally brought a fan-favorite flavor to the market. I’m not sure what took them so long, but Coca-Cola fans have already consumed 105.5 million cans worth of Cherry Vanilla Coke and Cherry Vanilla Coke Zero Sugar since 2017 from those super fancy Coca-Cola Freestyle machines that make you feel like you are a modern-day soda version of Willy Wonka. You no longer have to play Willy Wonka at a restaurant, this flavor is now available in cans or bottles!
I’m not sure Americans were looking to add more sugar to their sodas, but this version packs in another 10 calories per 16 oz. over an Original Coke. We think those 10 extra calories make a huge difference in the flavor. Which is our segway into, how does it taste? Well, the smell is the first thing you notice. This soda has a very vanilla scent coming out of the bottle. I’m wondering if this is also Cherry Vanilla, as Vanilla is the predominant scent. However, you do sense some cherry as the fizzy bubbles start to pop, but it is subtle compared to the vanilla. The flavor initially tastes mostly of vanilla with a hint of cherry. On the second sip, the flavors seem more in line with a 50-50 split. What we noticed the most, and honestly, we love this flavor, is that this version losses some of that classic Coca-Cola bite. It’s still not as sickly sweet as a Pepsi, but it does mellow out the classic Coca-Cola flavor. We think that is a good thing, although we love that classic Coke bite.
We recommend this flavor, it is definitely our favorite flavor of Coca-Cola so far, but who knows what they have cooking up in their labs! It does mean that you don’t have to buy a can of Cherry Coke and Vanilla Coke and secretly mix them in your Hydroflask in the parking lot of the 7-11. We purchased our bottle at Target, our cost was $1.30 USD.
