Jelly Belly Candy Cones

We found these on the shelf at Walgreens and couldn’t resist how cute and colorful they look. Since it is Jelly Belly brand, we paid a hefty premium for them. Sometimes that is worth it, in this case, it was definitely not!

Normally, Jelly Belly makes amazing candy. We’ve had their mellocreme candy before in their Easter and October mixes and we’ve loved them. We thought these looked great with flavors like Orange Sherbert, French Vanilla, Strawberry, Mint Chip and Chocolate. However, when you open the bag, it smells like maple syrup waffles. (Maple’s not a bad flavor, only monsters don’t love maple syrup waffles!!) However, in a few of these, the taste is extremely overpowering in both smell and taste.

We were looking forward to trying the flavors mentioned above, I mean, you had us at Orange Sherbert! But the maple syrupy cone flavor completely overpowers it. We found ourselves eating the top ice cream part of this candy like it was some kind of rare food that cost a fortune. We looked pretty funny doing it and had a good laugh. However, it was the only way we could taste the ice cream flavors and when doing it that way, using tiny little bites with our pinky fingers out, it was the only time we really enjoyed this candy to its fullest. A few flavors taste good if you eat the entire thing, the mint chip flavor and strawberry, in particular, were good if you ate the candy all at once.

The ice cream part was really good if you nibble it like a tiny little bunny, if you eat the cone, we thought it was a bit overpowering We give these a meh rating, try them if you really want to, but we thought they were just okay. We picked ours up at Walgreens, they were $3.49 USD.
